RESPONSIBILITIES

A. JOB SUMMARY:

• Responsible for the coconut procurement process for company, ensuring that the nuts are acquired efficiently, cost-effectively and the company has a reliable and consistent supply of quality coconuts or coconut-based products at competitive prices. This role will work closely with suppliers, farmers, and internal teams to meet the company’s needs for coconut supply.

B. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Sourcing and Supplier/Farmer Management:

• Identify and establish relationships with coconut farmers, cooperatives, and suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to ensure favourable agreements.
• Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, ensuring quality and timely delivery.

2. Quality Control:

• Ensure the coconuts meet the required standards of quality.
• Collaborate with quality control teams to handle any issues regarding product quality or sourcing.

3. Inventory Management:

• Ensure the coconuts meet the required standards of quality.
• Forecast and plan procurement needs based on market trends and company demand.

4. Market Analysis and Trend Forecasting:

• Analyze coconut market trends and prices to anticipate fluctuations.
• Stay informed about the global and local coconut supply chain, including any agricultural or environmental challenges that could impact supply.

5. Sustainability and Ethical Sourcing:

• Promote sustainable farming practices.
• Ensure that coconut sourcing complies with environmental and ethical standards.

6. Logistics and Distribution:

• Manage the logistics of transporting coconuts from the farm to processing facilities or end customers.
• Coordinate with distribution teams to manage deliveries.

7. Cost Management and Collaboration with Other Departments:

• Look for cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
• Work closely with sales, marketing, production, and finance teams to align procurement strategies with company goals.

REQUIREMENTS

• A tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Experience in procurement or agricultural management, ideally with a focus on coconut or other agricultural products.
• Agricultural Expertise: A strong understanding of coconut farming and the coconut industry.
• Negotiation and Communication Skills: The ability to negotiate favourable contracts and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse market trends and predict procurement needs.
• Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of the coconut supply chain, including sourcing, logistics, and inventory.
• Sustainability Knowledge: Understanding of sustainable farming practices and ethical sourcing.
• Attention to Detail: Ensuring that all contracts, shipments, and quality standards are met.
• Good knowledge in financial metrics for HRM are added advantage.
