RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Overview:

  • This position is responsible for establishing and managing a “Center of Excellence” at Company Corporate for all Accounting/Transaction Processing, tax, internal control and finance systems activities across the Company. This will include establishing and implementing accounting and reporting policies and procedures across the organization based on leading best practices, and ensuring compliance. The group FC will need to have strong talent management and leadership capabilities, with the ability to attract, retain and lead / manage the right talent to accomplish the finance and accounting KPI’s across all businesses, manage and build the team and capabilities necessary to achieve near, mid and long-term department objectives, and achieve department key operating metrics across each business (spans of control; management layers; headcount efficiency; cost as a % of total revenue).

2. Duties:

  • Work independently without managing a team.
  • Personnel and Development:
    – Talent management: Attract, retain and lead / manage the right talent to accomplish KPI’s.
    – Manage the Finance & Accounting function at Company Corporate and each of the BU’s (dotted and straight line).
  • Accounting/Transaction Processing:
    – Manage and maintain the organization’s accounting policies and ensure full compliance.
    – Lead all accounting / transaction processing and reporting: R2R, close policy, statutory and financial reports, financial statement audits.
    – Corporate allocation: Establish methodology and implement based on leading best practices.
  • Internal controls and compliance:
    – Understand and mitigate the key elements of Company’s risk profile.
    – Chart of authority / RACI: Work with CFO to define and implement.
    – Internal audit / internal control policies: Day to day management of the IA function; ensure proper  reporting to the CEO / BOD.
    – Ensure compliance with:
    + Loans; debt ratios; intercompany and 3rd party.
    + Budget compliance: Tracking; updates.
    + Cash: Compliance with policies; cash reconciliation.
    – Insurance: Manage corporate level insurance and ensure effective coverage across all Company businesses as part of the risk management framework.
  • Tax:
    – Risk: Identify, understand, quantify and (proactively) address all tax risks in the organization.
    – Strategy: Implement strategy to reduce risk; lower effective tax rates.
    + Structure: Optimized tax structure with thorough understanding of local regulations.
    + Form and maintain relationships as needed with 3rd party tax advisors.
    – Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations.
    – Audits: Manage tax audits and relationships with tax authorities.
  • Systems and processes:
    – Oversee the selection and implementation of the appropriate F&A system, architecture and analytics tools.
    – Accounting systems: Suggest updates and improvements; Ensures the consistency in procedures and policies.
  • Other Value Add:
    – Deep understanding of the business to add value across key business units and segments.
    – Provide the necessary financial analysis to support key initiatives.
    – Customer focus: strong / improving NPS score of Finance “customers”.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or ACCA required; MBA preferred.
  • 12+ years of financial management experience in a multi-national company with a minimum of 5+ years of people management experience.
  • Financial controller or head of finance (reporting to CEO, MD and / or BOD) for a $100m plus revenue business in Vietnam; either local company or a division of a MNC.
  • World class in key areas supporting the business (taxation, internal controls, systems / digital transformation, outsourcing non-value add accounting and reporting functions).
  • Technology and digital experience – led a digital transformation for F&A department; and / or experience building out a finance tech stack with forward looking finance system architecture.
  • Consumer industry experience – retail, branded, omni-channel; F&B a plus.
  • Big 4 (or 5) accounting experience a plus.
  • End-to-end understanding of the business – drawing insights from numbers to add value across key business segments and processes.
  • Functional skills required: business planning & development, analysis & problem solving, financial accounting and reporting.
  • Business skills required: external focus, change leadership, communication, and developing people and organizations.
  • Vietnamese; English proficiency required.
